SUMMARY:Sustain Abilities
DESCRIPTION:This joint participation facilitates embedding the learnings into both staff and the full board. Each successive year builds on the basic topics covered in the year prior with the intention of building board culture and staff/board alignment. There are 4 “advancing” levels\, with an “alumni” opportunity which is an opportunity for agencies previously engaged to begin again if leadership has changed or if other members of leadership have been identified for attendance to assist the organization with embedding the learning. Two members (board president or designated board member and ED)\, partner through this cohort-based learning experience\, building communication effectiveness and implementation strength. In Sustain Abilities\, the focus is on more engaged boards\, building board culture\, deeper donor relationships\, with a financial plan developed by the end of the program\, working toward long-term sustainability. Such things as capital campaign readiness assessment\, donor communications\, and planned giving are discussed. The deliverables at the end of the program are a richer understanding of the success factors and an action plan for incorporating them into the board and staff “DNA”. SUMMARY:SAVI Data Literacy Skills Training – Module 4A: Tell Stories with Data
DESCRIPTION:This VIRTUAL workshop will help you apply the skills learned in other workshops to your own real-world\, data-informed project. The workshop instructor will reach out to you prior to the workshop to discuss your project and to help you identify the data and other information you will need to bring to this workshop to be successful. \nThis offering is hosted by The Polis Center\, the creators of SAVI. Through this offering\, they will use the Central Indiana map\, but the lessons remain the same for Southern Indiana region. \nThis workshop teaches the next steps of persuasively communicating what you have learned after gaining initial insight from data. You will learn the skills to put your analysis in the context of a compelling narrative and to build your argument logically and convincingly. Whatever your audience\, weaving the data into a story is what communicates your findings to others\, whether it be a small data set\, large data set\, or multiple data sets. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND? \nAnyone interested in taking the next step from understanding their data and visualizing it\, to telling a cohesive story to others about their data. \nWHAT WILL YOU LEARN? \n\nTo find the compelling narrative in your data\nTo connect facts that build a compelling argument\nTo use compelling graphics to communicate your point\nTo tailor your delivery to your audiences needs\n\nUSEFUL KNOWLEDGE TO HAVE BEFORE ATTENDING \nNo prior knowledge is required\, but you may find it useful to attend the Module 1A: Framing the Problem workshop prior to this one. In that workshop you learn how to frame problems so that you have specific and measurable questions that can help you meet your goals.
