SUMMARY:Unlocking Evaluation Success with Program Theory & Logic Models
DESCRIPTION:Program theory provides a roadmap for understanding how programs are supposed to work and how activities should lead to intended outcomes. Conversely\, when program theory is not well-defined\, problems will inevitably emerge that weaken both the program and its evaluation. This session provides an opportunity to dig deeper into program theory and strengthening evaluation efforts through helping clients identify\, clarify\, and communicate program theory. In this workshop session\, we’ll explore: \n·        What program theory is and how clearly articulating it can strengthen program delivery and management practices. \n·        How to communicate program theory through several strategies including basic and detailed logic models. \n·        Tools and templates that can be used to help staff and leaders develop\, revise\, and articulate program theory.

SUMMARY:SAVI Data Literacy Skills Training – Tell Stories with Data
DESCRIPTION:This workshop teaches the next steps of persuasively communicating what you have learned after gaining initial insight from data. You will learn the skills to put your analysis in the context of a compelling narrative and to build your argument logically and convincingly. Whatever your audience\, weaving the data into a story is what communicates your findings to others\, whether it be a small data set\, large data set\, or multiple data sets. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND? \nAnyone interested in taking the next step from understanding their data and visualizing it\, to telling a cohesive story to others about their data. \nWHAT WILL YOU LEARN? \n\nTo find the compelling narrative in your data\nTo connect facts that build a compelling argument\nTo use compelling graphics to communicate your point\nTo tailor your delivery to your audiences needs\n\nUSEFUL KNOWLEDGE TO HAVE BEFORE ATTENDING \nNo prior knowledge is required\, but you may find it useful to attend the Module 1A: Framing the Problem workshop prior to this one. SUMMARY:Giving Innovation Summit 2026: Charitable Giving and Philanthropy in Turbulent Times
DESCRIPTION:Charitable giving and philanthropy have long been central to conceptions of American national identity\, understood since the nation’s founding to be vital to the maintenance of a robust civil society and of democratic life. From mutual aid networks to community foundations and digital crowdfunding\, Americans have consistently turned to voluntary giving to meet shared needs and express shared values. As the United States marks its 250th anniversary\, this tradition of charitable giving invites both celebration and honest examination as it maintains deep continuities and experiences profound changes. The past decade has brought significant pressure to bear on the landscape of giving: Shifting tax policy has altered incentives for everyday donors\, public funding gaps have increased need\, and declining institutional trust has changed where and how people choose to give. At the same time\, new models of collective and community-led giving are emerging in response. \nAs part of its 30th anniversary\, the Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy brings together researchers\, philanthropic leaders\, policymakers\, and sector infrastructure actors to examine the evolving landscape of charitable giving and philanthropy in its fifth Giving Innovation Summit. As part of this convening\, we will explore the evolution of the infrastructure of everyday and collective giving\, probe the policy pressures reshaping charitable behavior today\, and examine how the charitable and philanthropic sectors are responding to widening gaps in public funding. Together\, we will ask what these transformations mean for the future of giving in America. \nSpeakers: \n\nSara Barba\, Managing Partner\, Integer\nJon Bergdoll\, Associate Director of Data Partnerships\, Lilly Family School of Philanthropy\, Indiana University Indianapolis\nDaniel Cueto-Villalobos\, Doctoral Candidate and Graduate Instructor\, Sociology\, University of Minnesota Twin Cities\nAsha Curran\, Chief Executive Officer\, GivingTuesday\nMichael Layton\, W.K.
