DESCRIPTION:This joint participation facilitates embedding the learnings into both staff and the full board. Each successive year builds on the basic topics covered in the year prior with the intention of building board culture and staff/board alignment. There are 4 “advancing” levels\, with an “alumni” opportunity which is an opportunity for agencies previously engaged to begin again if leadership has changed or if other members of leadership have been identified for attendance to assist the organization with embedding the learning. Two members (board president or designated board member and ED)\, partner through this cohort-based learning experience\, building communication effectiveness and implementation strength. In Sustain Abilities\, the focus is on more engaged boards\, building board culture\, deeper donor relationships\, with a financial plan developed by the end of the program\, working toward long-term sustainability. Such things as capital campaign readiness assessment\, donor communications\, and planned giving are discussed. The deliverables at the end of the program are a richer understanding of the success factors and an action plan for incorporating them into the board and staff “DNA”. (Outcome measurement provided by JDLA).

SUMMARY:Sustain Abilities
DESCRIPTION:This joint participation facilitates embedding the learnings into both staff and the full board. Each successive year builds on the basic topics covered in the year prior with the intention of building board culture and staff/board alignment. There are 4 “advancing” levels\, with an “alumni” opportunity which is an opportunity for agencies previously engaged to begin again if leadership has changed or if other members of leadership have been identified for attendance to assist the organization with embedding the learning. Two members (board president or designated board member and ED)\, partner through this cohort-based learning experience\, building communication effectiveness and implementation strength. In Sustain Abilities\, the focus is on more engaged boards\, building board culture\, deeper donor relationships\, with a financial plan developed by the end of the program\, working toward long-term sustainability. Such things as capital campaign readiness assessment\, donor communications\, and planned giving are discussed. The deliverables at the end of the program are a richer understanding of the success factors and an action plan for incorporating them into the board and staff “DNA”. DESCRIPTION:This VIRTUAL workshop will help you apply the skills learned in other workshops to your own real-world\, data-informed project. The workshop instructor will reach out to you prior to the workshop to discuss your project and to help you identify the data and other information you will need to bring to this workshop to be successful. \nThis offering is hosted by The Polis Center\, the creators of SAVI. Through this offering\, they will use the Central Indiana map\, but the lessons remain the same for Southern Indiana region. \nSAVI provides a powerful collection of tools and resources that help you use data to make decisions. By leveraging other Geographic Information System (GIS) tools along with SAVI\, you can do much more. Would you like to use SAVI maps in combination with other map data? Would you like to create your own web maps and share them with others? Would you like to analyze your data to find patterns and relationships? Would you like to know how to obtain these tools for your organization? This is a free\, 1-session opportunity! \nThe Community Impact Training Session is an Open Session\, to be held on 9-5-24\, 8:30 – 12:30 PM Central Time. This is a VIRTUAL session\, open to any board members of your board\, staff members or volunteers who desire an introduction to philanthropy.  This session provides a condensed version of what participants experience in the Welborn Baptist Foundation’s Sustain Abilities 1.0 experience. This session can also serve as a “refresher” for those who have taken part in Sustain Abilities before. We see this as an opportunity to invite organizations\, not yet a part of Sustain Abilities\, to gain an understanding of philanthropic sustainability and the culture of building “advocates”.
