    Mr. Wonderful, AI and Wealth Creation: An Evening with Kevin O’Leary

    Join the University of Southern Indiana and the Romain College of Business for an inspiring evening with Kevin O’Leary, best known as “Mr. Wonderful” from ABC’s Shark Tank. O’Leary will share insights on artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and wealth creation, followed by a moderated Q&A with Dr. Nick Rhew. The event is free and open to the public. The University of Southern Indiana will present Mr. Wonderful, AI and Wealth Creation: An Evening with Kevin O’Leary, a discussion with Kevin O’Leary, best known as “Mr. Wonderful” on ABC’s four-time Emmy Award-winning Shark Tank, on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Liberty Arena, Home of the Screaming Eagles as part of the Romain College of Business Innovative Speaker Series. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event is free and open to the public thanks to support from the USI Foundation. During this discussion, O’Leary will share insights on artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and wealth creation in what promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking evening.     Clergy Tax: Does Anyone Actually Know the Rules?

    Clergy tax remains one of the most misunderstood areas of taxation for churches and ministry leaders—but understanding the rules can make a significant difference for clergy.   This introductory session will cover important topics including housing allowance, FICA exemption, clergy tax qualifications, and the opportunities and challenges surrounding implementation. The workshop is designed to be practical, approachable, and helpful for both active and retired clergy as well as church and HR staff.   The session will be led by Kevin M. Bittner, CPA, founder and president of Bittner Tax Service, LLC, a firm specializing in clergy taxation and nonprofit accounting solutions.

    SAVI Data Literacy – Visualizing Data with Charts

    Charts are a powerful tool for analyzing and communicating information through tables, graphs or diagrams. This workshop provides you with the skills you need to get the most value from charts. Hands-on activities show you how to apply several types of charts for static and interactive data visualizations.   WHO SHOULD ATTEND?  This workshop would be valuable to anyone interested in using charts to address a research question or communicate data findings. Even if you already know how to make charts, this workshop can improve your ability to design charts that can do the best job of depicting your data.  WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?  The fundamentals: what to think about before making a chart  Principles for choosing and designing a chart  How to create static data visualizations with Microsoft Excel and a demonstration of other interactive visualization tools such as Datawrapper  USEFUL KNOWLEDGE TO HAVE BEFORE ATTENDING  No prior knowledge is required, but you may also want to consider attending the SAVI Data, Tools, and Other Resources workshop which explores where to find existing data in SAVI.

    United Way’s Day of Caring 2026

    United Way of Southwestern Indiana’s Day of Caring is the largest, coordinated volunteer service event in the area providing nonprofit organizations in Vanderburgh, Spencer, and Warrick Counties the hands-on help and resources needed to further their missions. This year’s event takes place on Friday, September 11, in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance for the lives lost on 9-11-2001. When it’s time to register service opportunities or sign up to volunteer, visit our volunteer platform, Get Connected. It takes all of us pulling in the same direction to make real, tangible change. So, thanks in advance to everyone who dedicates their time, talent, and treasure to addressing the challenges facing our friends and neighbors. Through this day of service, we move closer to the United Way’s mission of helping all people thrive!
