The Board Champions 201-level program provides an opportunity for Board members to explore the habits and practices of effective governance, reflect on their strengths, and emerge more energized, engaged, and prepared to excel.
The most successful nonprofit boards have a collaborative team culture, working as a governing team in partnership with the executive. The starting point for building this culture involves a shared understanding of the work and the line between management and governance. Participants will learn to create shared understandings of the principles of board membership and how to assess the success of their organization’s board. Board dynamics (the interpersonal relations between board members and senior staff) have a high level of importance to the board’s governing effectiveness.
