HOLA Professional Development Series
Since its foundation in 2002 as a nonprofit organization, HOLA has been dedicated to fostering appreciation for cultural diversity and promoting the successful inclusion of Latinos in the community. In collaboration with Ivy Tech Community College, the University of Evansville, the University of Southern Indiana and the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership (E-REP), we developed a comprehensive leadership series aimed at achieving the following outcome: To equip participants with advanced professional development training that enhances their skills, expands their knowledge, and sharpens their strategic thinking. This training empowers participants to navigate complex challenges, make meaningful contributions, and foster a culture of innovation, belonging, and continuous growth within their workplaces, communities, and organizations. The Fourth Cohort will start at Ivy Tech Community College on August 1st, 2025. Note: These six one-day sessions will be held over a year, rotating between Ivy Tech Community College, University of Evansville, and University of Southern Indiana. SAVI Data Literacy – Avoiding Data Pitfalls
Data is most powerful when you understand its limits. This workshop equips participants with some of the fundamental skills necessary to critically analyze data and recognize the impact of various factors on their results. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This workshop is important for anyone who wants to ensure they are effectively using and interpreting data. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN How and why to avoid treating estimates like exact numbers The importance and impact of geographic variation The benefits of looking beyond summary statistics How policy changes or other factors may impact data USEFUL KNOWLEDGE TO HAVE BEFORE ATTENDING No prior knowledge is required, but you may find it useful to attend the Module 2A SAVI Data, Tools, and Other Resources workshop prior to this one. In that workshop you learn about the data resources that SAVI provides.
