Learning Hub

If you have resources you believe would be helpful for the community, complete the Contact form in the Menu. Let’s grow the Grow Library together!

Why is this topic important? The first eight years of a child’s life are critical because, in this short time span, the building blocks for optimal development are established. Early relationships (both familial and external) lay the groundwork for academic preparation and social/emotional development. Because of the complex nature of early childhood development, multiple audiences – including parents, caregivers, teachers, and communities – must work together to ensure that children enter school ready to learn and that they remain on that path.

Closing the Gap – An Assessment of Indiana’s Early Learning Opportunities

The Early Learning Access Index attempts to both qualify and quantify childcare access throughout Indiana. This method moves away from viewing access as simply a capacity supply and demand equation and layers in the additional components of quality, affordability, and choice. These four elements, viewed in context with one another, updated and analyzed annually, offer a more robust assessment of Hoosier families’ ability to access early learning opportunities that suit their needs.
