Why is this topic important? The Harvard Flourishing Index defines flourishing as, To have an overall satisfaction with life, a sense of meaning and purpose, and to have mental and physical health, relationship, and financial and material stability needs generally met. While the concept of flourishing can seem largely aspirational when cited as the goal of holistic community and individual development, the elements of flourishing are tangible, and can be measured individually or collectively in communities. Flourishing can also be pursued at varying levels of scale and partnership by a vast diversity of community stakeholders, including individuals, faith communities, nonprofit organizations, foundations, institutions of health and education, and more.
