Why is this topic important? Vibrant, diverse communities that have their needs met provide consistent opportunities for individuals to learn with and from one another.     Closing the Gap – An Assessment of Indiana’s Early Learning Opportunities

    The Early Learning Access Index attempts to both qualify and quantify childcare access throughout Indiana. This method moves away from viewing access as simply a capacity supply and demand equation and layers in the additional components of quality, affordability, and choice. These four elements, viewed in context with one another, updated and analyzed annually, offer a more robust assessment of Hoosier families’ ability to access early learning opportunities that suit their needs.

    Evansville, Indiana Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Master Plan

    To guide future investments in bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and programming, the City of Evansville and the Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization have undertaken an extensive, community-driven planning process to create the Evansville Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Master Plan (the Plan). The Plan outlines a vision for walking and bicycling in Evansville, with clear and concise goals and objectives to help achieve that vision. The Plan also includes infra-structure and program recommendations that are supported by an action-oriented implementation strategy to sustain momentum and progress for years to come.

    Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Resources

    The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN) was founded in 1987 to meet the increasing information needs of nonprofits and to convene nonprofits to address issues facing the sector. It is the largest state association of nonprofits in the United States. Through MCN, nonprofits join together across interest areas to work on issues of common concern to all. MCN accomplishes its mission in five ways: 1.Education and professional development for nonprofit managers and leaders; 2.Public policy education and civic engagement; 3.Cost saving product partnerships; 4.Research on nonprofit sector trends and tax and budget issues; and 5.Advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.

    Social Vulnerability and the Legacy of Redlining

    A comparison tool of the historical 1930’s Home Owners Loan Corporation “redlining” map of Evansville with the more current Center for Disease Control’s Social Vulnerability Index scores for census tracts. The tool helps provide understanding of the relative continuity or changes in vulnerability from past to present for areas of the city and the residents who dwell there. Note: There may be language/terms used especially in historical documents that do not align with language that is currently accepted and honoring of all residents.
